Taylor Swift might have several best-selling albums to her name, luxury houses most of us could only dream of, and a group of A-list girlfriends, but that doesn't mean she's immune to the same mental health issues you or I might experience.The Reputation singer recently shared her experience with anxiety in a cover interview with Elle in celebration of her upcoming 30th birthday in December this year. In an article entitled '30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30', Taylor explained how she chooses to manage her anxiety.
"Vitamins make me feel so much better!" she wrote. "I take L-theanine, which is a natural supplement to help with stress and anxiety. I also take magnesium for muscle health and energy."
L-theanine is an amino acid found most commonly in tea leaves, and is sold as a natural supplement to aid relaxation and to help people de-stress. While it's widely believed L-theanine has this impact, scientific research hasn't officially confirmed a link. A number of small studies have been carried out on the supplement, one of which that it aided anxiety and sleep issues in schizophrenic patients when combined with antipsychotic treatment.
